Middle Rio Grande System

Using a BCD396T this morning in Eagle Pass I monitored Talk Group 3675 on the Middle Rio Grande System.

The control channel was 154.0175.

Mode was unencrypted P25 digital.

I did not have much time to listen and could not determine from the conversation the agency but is possibly law enforcement.

Wow, the band really opened up tonight. Looks like it will tomorrow also. I am sitting in Navasota copying the P25 control channels for this system (13E) on 151.115, 154.0175 and 155.145. 155.145 hasn't been identified yet on RR, but it is the Crystal City site. It is just not quite strong enough of a signal to get the tower number, and I can't find my cord to connect to the laptop and run Pro96Com. Maybe later.

Search the threads in the Parker County P25 discussion for the band plans. I think that they are probably the same. It seems to be kind of a default for Motorola. The Parker County system only utilizes one of the plans, but I think that there are 4 of them in the radios.

Found a good (but aged) pdf on the need for the Middle Rio Grande trunking system. This document makes it sound like it will always share Austin's master site switch, owned by the City of Austin. So I guess it will officially remain as part of the GATRRS, though it is, in and of itself, the Middle Rio Grande TRS.

The blurp on "Federal" users is very interesting. While the system is obviously an excellent resource for federal users, both along the border and along the I35 corridor, dedicated talkgroups have yet to be identified - not surprisingly though as they tend not to announce themselves.
