I thought this would be the most appropriate forum for this. I had a Yaesu vx-6r. Among the many frequencies I had in there, I had only one milair fq. As I remember it did fairly well on receiving the aircraft portion of the transmission. I know it's primarily a ham transceiver. What's your experience/opinion's of it as a milair receiver. Thank You.

The VX-6R is rated between .2 and .5uv sensitivity within the 225-400MHz range in FM mode and it would be a little worse in AM mode. I've used other late model Yaesu handhelds and they do ok for mil air. But nothing like a Yupiteru MVT-7100, that is a very sensitive mil air receiver.

My 7R does ok but there are better radios that can do better. The Uniden 160DN isn’t that expensive and comes with DMR and NXDN. It’s a non trunking scanner. For cheaper, the 125 will work but no 380 to 400 MHz.
