I will be in NC over the July 4th holiday and would appreciate any available listing of military air freqs. Combat air patrol or from Cherry Point. I have some, but I hope to reprogram my BC296 before I start my trip.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Brunswick. My inlaws just moved to a house just south of Washington, in Beaufort County. While not on the coast, my scanning at home (Maryland) has allowed me to pick up combat air patrols from far distances.

Thanks.

Drew, to save you time, just tell me which counties to check here in the NC database and I can pull some freqs out. But if you don't mind I greatly appreciate the info.

Yes it is. I looked at the Camp Lejune listing on the site here. With all the talk groups listed I should have plenty of action to scan.

Within Onslow County, Camp Lejeune is extremely well documented. (I know, I am the documenter). I have approximately 175 talkgroups on that system, but with the unid talk group restriction, I do not post them. Nobody appears to live in Havelock (Cherry Point) and therefore its not that well documented. I went there for the air show several weeks ago and was able to add something of value to the listing.

Do not get your hopes up on the Lejeune system from a significant distance. output appears to be minimal with some dead spots on MCBCL. I have difficulty monitoring from the other side of the county (Less than 10 miles)

Cheers

Beaufort County Mil Air freqs

Dank if you are going to be south of Washington, in Beaufort County you will be just southwest of the Dare County Bomb ranges and about under the Kiwi refueling track.

Try these:
358.8 Navy Dare Bomb Range Primary
320.2 Navy Dare Bomb Range Secondary
349.1 USAF Dare Bomb Range Primary
387.2 USAF Dare Bomb Range Secondary
266.4 Kiwi refueling track
272.75 Washington Center New Bern Sector Low Altitude
255.4 Military Flight Service Stations

Navy Dare Open House

The Navy Side of the Dare Bomb Range will hold an open house on Thursday the 21st of July. You will be so close you can see the little practice bombs release from under the wing of the planes.

How would I drive there if I wanted to while in Washington NC? Should I follow route 17 north and head east on 64?

Dare Range location

Looking at my NC State Transportation Map from Washington going up 17 to US 64 may be a longer route. Perhaps the better route would be US 264, about the Hyde/Dare County lines on the left you will see the entrance to the Air Force range, continue past this to Stumpy Point and a mile or so past Stumpy Point the Navy entrance will be on the left and Navy Shell Road, it is nicely marked. Just as you enter there should be a small wooden box provided by the U S Fish and Wildlife Service, look in the box for a pamphlet of Hunting Regulations, this will have a nice map of the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. Open House activities can begin as early as 0730 - 0800.
