There are several parts to "military airband". The part of the spectrum most often associated with it is 225-400MHz which is almost exclusively AM and 25KHz steps (there are some notable exceptions: some USAF Airborne Command Post comms are SSB within a WFM carrier, and most modern military aircraft have radios that can transmit any mode and any step size).
380-400MHz is slowly being transferred away from milair for trunked use around the world BUT the change isn't going to be overnight.

There is quite of lot of milair activity around 50MHz (a mixture of AM and FM with 10KHz steps being common) and between 137-142MHz (usually AM and 25KHz steps) in some areas.
