Posted already in the AZ and CA state sections and added here for general MilAir interest. No idea what the nuclear cargo was.

What exactly does this mean? What notice?

an online Broadcastify.com notice said an alert was issued for “radioactive material” on the aircraft was loaded.

The military has not confirmed how many people were on board, but they said initial reports that there was nuclear material on the aircraft were incorrect

It looks like The Daily Mail corrected their report.

Well, maybe a tritium gunsight?

A more likely possibility is a In-Flight Blade Inspection System (IBIS) on the rotary wings (props) with Strontium-90. I do not know if that aircraft has those, but some military ones do. Typically this would involve several 100uC level sources.

Usually the initial reports of anything are more accurate than later reports because after the first reports the "spin" starts.

Not at all in my experience. An example being that death tolls from earthquakes and floods are usually found to be about much higher than initially reported.
