The other day there was a police shooting in the Highlands neighborhood of Mill Creek. I found this out as I was riding my bike home from work and noticed several camera crews set up at the end of the street just a block from my house. I figured this must have had something to do with all the commotion I heard out my bedroom window early that morning at 3:30 AM. I stopped and talked to one of the police officers and was shocked to hear that somebody had been killed. I also learned that Mill Creek police are often involved in similar activities, such as police chases along Seattle Hill Road. That morning as I was awakenned by all the excitement, I was wishing I had my scanners programmed and ready. But since I haven't used my scanner for so long I knew there was no way I could have programmed it quickly enough. I was determined after this to get back into scanning Unfortunately I learned that the "rebanding" has made my Uniden BC250D scanners obsolete. So my big question to anybody that lives in the area is this: Which scanners will work for this area? It seems that after reading these forums that digital is probably not worth the money. What about a Uniden BC246T? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Your BC250 will work just fine they have not really done any rebanding yet I think it might take them a few yrs to reband everything

Mill Creek growing pains

Great, thanks for the info! I was convinced based on what I read in the wiki's that my scanners were worthless.

Back on the subject of Mill Creek, it seems over the last year or so this once sleepy golf town has seen a rapid increase in serious crime. A few months ago there was a murder at a Halloween party also near where I live. Just before that my car was broken into and several thousand dollars worth of stuff stolen from it. Lately I've been reading about lots of car and home burglaries in the area. No doubt all this can be blamed on typical city growing pains. On the positive side, it's becoming a good town for scanning. Hopefully it won't go digital (encrypted) anytime soon.

i know this wasn't your question, but about the mill creek shooting: i think it is weird how the police have released very little information about it. usually the police are quick to say something like, "it appears right now that the officer was justified in using deadly force." but they haven't said that; all they have said so far is basically that they need to investigate it. something seems fishy . . .

(don't get me wrong: i'm a fan of law enforcement. and in addition, this is just what i have seen on the news.)

Re: Millcreek shooting

From what i have read and listened to on the News( i know: don't believe all you read or hear right....) This perp was in court only hours earlier in the day for other numerous violations/convictions etc. He was a known criminal. he was in a neighborhood at 3:00 am and there were several reported calls to PD about possible car prowl/burgleries. He "ran" from the PD when confronted reportedly. To add to this a woman was on the news who said she knew the guy and he was a longtime criminal. So PD was totally justified in my opinion. This is thier job..He's lucky no one else caught him lurking around cars and shot him themselves..

Police Chase?

I agree, it's strange there's been such little information released on this. It's especially odd that there's been no mention of a police chase, but what I heard that morning definately sounded like a chase lasting about 20 minutes. All the reports say the police arrived to investigate a car prowl then encountered the suspect. Why then would his truck tires be worn to the rims? Either the police are trying to hide something or police chases happen so often it's just not a big deal. Probably the latter is more likely because when I talked to the Mill Creek cop that afternoon he said chases are common in Mill Creek thanks to Seattle Hill Road.

By the way, does anybody know which system/talk group Mill Creek police and fire are on? Thanks.
