My older sds100 was chattering away on my local FD channel and this newer one was silent. I updated support and they passed along everything
So you have a working SDS100 and a non-working one?

INSIDE OF A HOUSE/BUILDING OR IN CITY IT CANT PICK UP ANYTHING DIGITAL BUT ANOLOG IS PERFECTLY FINE…
"Digital" results on the working unit inside the same house/building are more favorable?

Yes, correct. My older sds100 is working perfectly fine. It’s my newer unit.

No. It was not picking up anything inside my house/around buildings except Analog channels. it was only outside in wide open areas. This was for both my local department and Portland. It now picks up. My local station was working fine but the primary one I listen to (Portland) hardly comes in at all.

My local repeater is just a block away

And Portland is 13mi north of here

Local:

Portland: Portland (P25) Trunking System, Portland, Maine

If you are going to get any help you are going to have to start answering our questions if not the help you are going to get is going to be as useful as the answers you give (NOT MUCH).
#1. What is the System you are trying to listen to?
#2. Where are you located at just a general area not the address of your house?
#3. If you look around near your home do you see any TV, Radio, Cell Towers or any other transmitter sites?
#4. Post a copy of your scanner programming (The File).
#5. Post if possible, a Video of the problem you are seeing.
gosh sorry…

#1 Portland (P25) Trunking System, Portland, Maine

#2 Northern York County Maine

#3 there’s quite a few communications tower near my area. Closest is just a block away. Its the repeater for my own towns trunking system.

#4 neither of my scanners have been programmed. I only update the firmware and database. Unless there’s another form of programming you are requesting?

#5 I could make a YouTube account and post something there.

Program what you're having trouble scanning into a favorites list. Uniden Sentinel makes this easy. Then if you still have trouble you can export your Sentinel .hpe file, zip it up and post it as an attachment, directions here so others can take a look at your programming

Might as well. I was hoping to give the older one to someone else. Since it works fine, I will just sell or give away the new unit. And keep the old one.
That is very generous. Not a cheap radio! If all else fails, Uniden warranties their repairs and should make it right. They told you to send it in for repair and replaced components.

So, using the SD card from the working radio made no difference?

Unfortunately no, there was no change. I’m gonna contact support and ask what exactly was done. The repair slip only said ‘the following repairs or actions were done’ “Q2 and Q3 ” i’ll take a pic if needed when I get home.

I can’t post photos or videos here. Too large apparently.

...or post a video of the two units side by side scanning the same thing (assuming one works on said "digital") so we can have a looksee
I tried recording a video. It won’t post here. I can’t even add photos because the file size is too large. I shall try to create a favorites lists and post the file

It's the first amplifier transistors in the receiver, the pre-amp. They usually blow when a transmitter are too close or by a static discharge, when charge yourself up and touching the antenna, or using external antenna and it's snowing or raining that makes friction with the antenna and charge it up with static electricity. So when you send it in it must have had lousy reception or didn't receive at all.

Thanks!

Yes exactly. By the time I was getting ready to package it and ship it off, it was no longer picking up anything whatsoever.

When I got the unit back yesterday it was still not receiving but later fixed itself. So my local station comes in just fine now. It’s the primary station that I prefer listening to, 12 miles north of my house that it is struggling to pick up.

My old unit is having no problems at all, even at almost 40 miles away through all the woodlands.
