Hello, just wondering if anyone on here would happen to know what frequencies Miller uses and the Tow Companies around Oakville and Toronto and like what you saw on the show Heavy Rescue 401. And any other construction companies.

So I can monitor them as well while i am here in Oakville and around Toronto.

Let me know

Thanks

You'll find lots of activity on the OnQ system. It's quite busy. You will need NXDN capabilities.

The 400-series highway's around here have specific tow companies authorized by the way, part of the Tow Zone Pilot program. You can find all the zones and who works each one over here on the government site:

OK thanks. So the Towing companies are on a system or do they use their own channels like repeater or Sim channels.

And would anyone happen to know who uses this frequency, it's digital: 148.960. I am hearing it after Barrie and before turning off the 400 onto hwy 9. I heard it last year when I was up this way but don't know who uses it.

They mostly have talkgroups on the OnQ system there. It's a trunked NXDN system with several transmit sites throughout the province.

148.960 is likely from CFB Borden in that area, it is one of the frequencies on their system.

OK thanks for the info.

Was just looking for anything else to listen to.

And when you are talking about NXDN, all I have for that is a VHF NX-200 VHF Portable. So I am guessing that won't help me.

I don't know much about these radios, but, don't believe it will help you - you'd need actual access to the system at that point. Lots of software out there for decoding it via SDR and Uniden 996P2/325P2/x36/SDS series have paid upgrade options available to scan it.

OK thanks. I do have a 996P2 but don't have the NXDN enabled on it. And don't have or use SDR.

Thanks for the info

The tow trucks on OnQ are mainly the contracts like Williams and Abrams... all the action is spread out across a few private groups on Sonim/Zello/Whatsapp.

I never understood the difference between the IMOS on OnQ and IMOS on FleetConnect.
