• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

As long as it's a Lithium Ion battery, charging it whenever shouldn't damage it at all. It's best practice to allow the battery to discharge a little before charging it but it's up to the user.

I have the minitor 5 but there are a few on my department with 6's and they can usually last a couple days on a single charge. The majority of us just throw them on the charger overnight while we sleep anyways and very rare do we have to order replacement batteries. My 5 has been going almost 4 years on the same battery, no issues.

I leave mine set to “monitor” “tone and vibrate”. My county gets a large number of calls in a days time and I’ve had no problem getting 3 days on a full charge.

I've always kept my Minitor VI on the charger unless I go out. It works for 3-4 days before needing to think about swapping out batteries. I have a full base pager setup and so there's room for the pager to charge and an extra battery. I also have an "on the go" charging base as well.

I have a Minitor 2, Minitor 3, Minitor 4, and a Minitor 6, by far the Minitor 6 has the best battery life, I get a moderate amount of calls, I have a few extra batteries for the Minitor 6 in my POV, To answer your question, you CAN change the battery when ever you feel its needed, I get around 2 days on my Minitor 6 on selective call without having to charge it, when the battery chirp goes off you should try to change the battery within the hour, if you are on call 24/7, like me, if you get a call for a Echo Level Cardiac Arrest, or a Delta level MVA rollover with PI, lives are at risk if that page does not go through, especially if your in a Vol. Deptartment where there is only a few that respond, this could lead to a fatal mistake, I know somebody is going to say "NoT EvErYWheRe Is LikE ThAT!", I have no clue where you live, or what type of Dept. it is, try to keep it charged up as best you can, change the battery when needed as well.

(This message was not meant to sound rude either)
