If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all,

I have a batch of new Mintor 7 pagers. IT was over and installed the software. After the install the tech saw that there was a firmware update. He did the update to them and now I cannot get them to connect to the software. When you turn them on, they just beep quickly and the red-light flashes. I am not sure how to fix this.

Thank you!

Sounds like the IT Tech did not let the upgrades finish if you cannot get them to connect sounds like a trip to the DEPOT for them to fix.
This is why Radio Shops should be the ones upgrading and programming PUBLIC SERVICE RADIO EQUIPMENT.

It appears that IT when installing the Minitor 6 and 7 software into a new computer, they also loaded Minitor 6 firmware update into 5 new Minitor 7 pagers. Anyone know how to revert it back?

Since these are new 7's and presumably under warranty I would just ship them to the depot, no need to provide details other than "not working". As long as there's no liquid, smoke or physical damage they should take care of the issue.

Motorola really should have some basic version/model compatibility checking in the firmware updater code.

Hmm, It would have been nice if the pagers would have rejected the firmware as being the wrong model type but didnt.

people are so eager to update firmware , if there is not a major bug , or nothing in the new firmware that is going to really make anything better its best to just let it be . but then again sometimes if it isent broken it is best to fix it until it is broken

I am shocked the m6 firmware update would actually write into a different model pager.
