To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

You have to advise what frequency you need to obtain the correct minitor IE: low band, UHF or VHF.
The freq is 157.4500 which is the paging I have found the crystal there is no tone listed
Keep in mind that the Minitor 2 is not narrowband compliant, so the audio levels will be rather low. You would be better off with a newer model, that handles narrowband.
I understood that and the audio is not that bad plus I will be getting the powered base I like the look of this on and how it slides into the base

Minitor 3 and 4 are the same, I don't think the 5 is the same
I just want is a piece of equipment that was used back then and I like this one more I’ll suffer some volume for it. I want to try to get each one and what ever one the department near me uses once I join in May.
There are Minitor 2 options available. You will need the tones that the agency uses, so you can get the correct reeds for them. If you have an Android device, an app called Radio ID can help you with that.
Radio ID is also available for iPhones in the App Store.

Have the app running, where the microphone is able to pic up the tones from a transmission. (Live or recorded.) The app will display the tone pair heard.

For what it is worth, the batteries in the Minitor II are AAA rechargeable batteries. The used pager you obtain will probably have dead or very poor batteries in it. You can obtain replacement batteries from a number of sources. Motorola charges way too much for them, so try looking on Amazon.

The Minitor ll does not use AAA batts. It uses a 2.4 volt batt. available on many locations
You obviously have no clue what you are talking about? Hold what up and tune it????
AAA in the Minitor II? Nope. The battery pack the Minitor II uses is actually two rechargeable N cells shrink-wrapped together. Not even close to a AAA cell in size or voltage.
Find the radio frequency for the department, and program that into your scanner. (Different brands, and different eras, do that a differently.)

Ok wow smdh at some of the information posted here. The Minitor 2 absolutely does not use a common aaa battery it uses a special battery. The Minitor 3 and 4 can use common rechargeable batteries. The Minitor 2 is definitely better choice compared to the others in my opinion due to stability and sensitivity but they are hard to get programmed due to requiring crystals and tone reeds.
