• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have. Motorola Minitor VI Pager. I have the programming cradle and software. I can program frequencies and tones into the pager. What I am having trouble with is adding custom audio to the pager. I am trying to add voice files for the different Switch positions. I am following the instructions and creating audio files in the .WAV format that are 8 kHz, mono, and 16 bit PCM. I am using the free program Balabolka to create these WAV files using the text to speech function.

When I load these WAV files into the Custom Audio portion of the Motorola Pager software, I get a File Error #5 saying the file format is unsupported. Does anyone know why this would occur if the file is in the correct format?

Are your file names less than 8 characters with no spaces? sound1.wav
Thank you for the reply. Yes, the file names are short, with no spaces or punctuation.

For example:
CityA.wav
CityB.wav

I even tried using all lowercase letters.

For example:
citya.wav
cityb.wav

The file size of the WAV files is 24 KB and the length is one second. I used this same program and format to create the voice files for my Motorola APX8000XE.

Try to pull va files from apx cps folder. If it likes those files, then import your balabolka files into apx cps, then pull out to put them into pager.

I have had balabolka for almost ten years, but decided to use plain voice for va files. I used Audacity.

Thank you all for the help. I ended up reinstalling the Programming Software from this link and it solved my issue. Voice announce works and I can upload WAV files without issue.
