It means you're losing the control channel. Try turning up the gain for the controlling dongle. I personally use a yagi pointed directly at the tower for better reception.

Gave that a shot without much improvement. 2 of my dongles have numbers in the "Measured error" column.
96Hz for 1 and -175 for the other that comes and goes

I use 3 x Nooelec ver 3 in a USB3 hub, connected to a 3.2 port and I don't have any bandwidth issues. I mostly use them w/ SDRTrunk.

Still wondering if it's my antenna? I'm using the stock antennas that came with the RTL. My SDS100 picks up everything perfectly with the stock antenna. I tried using the SDS antenna on all 3 RTL's without much improvement. I am not using a powered USB hub. Just the USB ports on the PC. Running out of ideas to try

Try using one of these indoor HDTV antennas. This is a pic of mine & I get P25 sites 40 mi away. It is a single directional antenna & it will have to point out a window in the direction of the site(s) you're trying to receive. ... I'll admit that SDRTrunk's configing is a l'il "involved", but if you're scanner & PC savvy, should be obtainable to do.

I had one of those antennas lying around forever and I think I finally threw it away. Figures.. Have to order another one

SDRTrunk picks up the talkgroup but when it doesn't play the transmission it always says "Fade"

I've tried messing with the gain on my tuners but they always turn back to "Automatic"

I thought I was computer savvy until I ran into this issue haha

Buy it from AliExpress and also get the USB powered amp that they sell for the antenna, it helps a ton. They seem to have the best gain vertical from the side (like how I have it hanging in the window.). If you point them skyward like for a TV, they do a terrible job, though.

Moved around the dongles and now I can't get the control channel to show up
I would investigate the connecting cables & the antenna. I'm guessing you scanners receive the sites well. How far are you from the sites you want to hear? Have you tried putting your current SDR antenna near a window? .... Here are some pics of my SDR setup.
