To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Mixed Mode Scanning Troubles

Hello all!

NX5200 and NX5700 radios with select channels set to mix-mode - receive analog and conventional and transmit in P25.

When the mix-mode channel is the selected priority channel and scan feature is turned-on. The radio does not hear the conventional radio traffic. Turn the scan feature off and radio hears the conventional radio traffic.

The selected channel is in the scan list.

Any help on a solution?

Why mixed mode? I understand save on channels used, but why not 1 extra channel for the analog, and 1 for the p25.

Just thinking out loud, that would make more sense. unless it's a work radio and deals with paging etc.

It is a public safety radio. The mixed-mode is to capture the analog page tones and voice for the initial dispatch.

The radio acts like it isn’t scanning the conventional side of the channel/frequency.

I would separate the two then. This can cause more headache than needed.
My 2 cent suggestion

Fair enough. The odd thing... There is another personality from the same system in the same zone programmed as mixed mode. It works as designed. I have checked the configuration of between the two personalities. No differences.
