Just a couple observations for the MLG&W system here in Shelby County, made thanks to the wonderous nightmare Mother Nature has dumped upon us over the last two weeks.

1. Despite some inaccurate reports, the system is still very much alive and active.

2. System Operations appears to be following the practice of patching all Electric, Gas, and Water ops talkgroups together at night during "normal" operations.

3. Memphis PD and SCSO units in the field definitely do have readily available access to the system as they were heard and logged during the first big dericho that took everything out.

4. There's several unidentified TG's that need some more activity to ID that were found during the week long outage following 100+mph straight line winds.

MPD and SCSO formerly had some form of access to the system but was never used and vice versa MLGW to the old Memphis/SC system. It is not happening now. MLGW is in the process of switching over to a DMR system which should happen in the next couple of months if the vendor will ever work the bugs out. Some users are already on it. It is encrypted.

Do you have any details of the DMR system beyond what is in the database?

It appears the Motorola Type II system is officially dead. As of this morning, there's no active control channel, and the same amount of expected activity is present on the DMR Tier III system. Can anyone else confirm these findings before I submit them?
