Greetings,
Ever since the security has been increased I have been frustrated trying to bring my scanners and camera equipment and not being able to carry any of it in a convenient large backpack. After 8 or 9 hours each day of hauling this stuff around it gets heavy and my camera vest cannot hold everything I like to bring. I know it’s a geek thing.![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
I wanted something that security could easily check, was compact, lightweight and had wheels if needed. Last year (2005) I attended Andrews AFB and McGuire AFB shows. That is where this all got started.
So I came up with this, it’s still being worked on and I would like to add a fold out chair on the frame. I found a cart that seems to work best in that the wheels and front lip fold up for a very compact design. I had an old backpack that I cut the back panel with straps out of and attached it with new bolts to the frame. The scanner case is homemade and removable from the frame with loops that allow the scanner belt hooks to hang on. The amplified speaker system helps to hear the action as I normal go with a few friends and we can sit and listen easily now.
Maybe this will give some ideas to others on how to carry items into an air show with out much hassle.
