So I'm just barely far enough out of range for the systems I listen to with my portable antennas. I'm using the RS 800 mhz antenna and depending on the night, I hear the trunked system scratchy to barely audible.

I move around my house quiet a bit while listening, so I don't want to install an antenna on the room where I'd be limited to just one where (where I have the wire running to).

Does anyone out there use an antenna - other than the ones meant for a portable - to get better reception but move it around the house? I'm thinking one I could plop in what ever corner of the room that I'm in and run the wire to my portable.

None that practically will do any better than the antenna you are using.

Consider placing the radio in the best position for reception and using a Bluetooth transmitter and receiver to move around with if it's not real far. They are cheap and plug into the headphone jack of the scanner.

That’s a good idea. Any suggested transmitters?

I use a TaoTronics Wireless Portable Bluetooth Transmitter ($28) and a stereo to mono adapter with my bluetooth headset... works very well.

Good luck.

I use the same. You can get what you need on amazon cheap.
