Modded PRO-18/668 question

Can anyone confirm that CPU 4.5 and DSP 3.1 will still work? I know that 4.6 is a NO-NO. But any info on 4.5 and 3.1. Trying to update a PRO-18 from 2.3, but not sure how to get 3.0 on it.

Thank you. Driving myself batty trying to figure out how to get 3.0 on it. I have other scanners with 3.0 so I have the config.bin file, just can't figure out what to do with it.

If I recall the older threads your version of 3.1 was the older (first) version that did not trash the DMR. Any ideas about the current 3.1 and 4.5?

Works fine. 3.2 also works. Just don't attempt to update the CPU past 4.5.

I don't think there is a 3.2!

You have yours at 3.2 to confirm? My 18 has 3.1

And yes I see 3.2 as available


My 18 is pretty much new not one smudge.

of course not hehe, never on all non official upgrades I've done. I just didn't have any with DSP 3.1+ Thx

FWIW, I haven't noticed any difference with DSP 3.0, 3.1, or 3.2 on the Pro-668.

actually I have, at 3.0 and under on an 18 it would not stop in Limit Search mode if the Delay and Zeromatic where both checked marked.



Now it would work fine if either one was only checked marked but not both at same time.



Ever since 3.1 and now 3.2 works fine with both.

This Pro-18 was a purchase back in the day when they were $79.99 on Overstock dot com.

Bought quite a few and kept 2, the one pictured in this thread was in my closet until recently. It was brand new and only thing missing was the users manual which was no big deal.

The other one I sold it 2 months ago, screen was rubbed off as normal Pro18 do. But buyer didnt mind he just wanted DMR hehe


Surprised they still keep their value on ebay selling for average $200.00

Now I have a Pro-668 with the official firmware and compared to my non official Pro18, can't even tell one difference at all. Both scan and search same channels at the same time.

Even thinking in selling the 668 and keeping the 18 caz I like it / use it more

to put 3.0 on it without ezscan just replace the config_bin file on the microsd card with the config_bin file of DSP firmware you want to install. I suggest you rename the old one first.

Running CPU 4.6 and DSP 3.0 on my Pro-668 with no problems. Software is 2.19 Bld 505.

With the official update from Whistler, there is not another scanner close to that price that can do DMR and Phase 2 P25. It worked great listening to The Big House yesterday on their cap+ single site system.

I forgot to add that my 668 has not gone thru the Whistler upgrade.
