Hello, I have an XTS 5000, the current codeplug says the model number is for a model 3 (H18UCF9PW7AN), the codeplug I've written says the model number should be for model 2 (H18UCF9PW6AN)...I get an error message that model doesnt match, and it won't write thee new plug, any idea how to fix this.......thanks in advance

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.
To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Read the radio. Modify THAT codeplug. Save a copy, write it to the radio.
you are going to have to read the model III radio to get its codeplug, open the model II codeplug in a seperate instance of CPS and do a top node drag and drop from the model 3 to the model 2. Then correct any errors that get caused in the conversion.
unfortunately, I bout it from a third party, and don't have access to the other radio

- Open two instances of CPS
- Read your current model 3 radio in the first instance
- Open the model 2 codeplug in the second instance
- Perform a top level drag and drop from the top of the tree in one window to the other window
- If needed, resolve any invalid fields
- Write the codeplug
- Enjoy your radio!
What are you going to do with a 700/800 meg radio and what is so special about the codeplug file that you are trying to clone? Just curious.
