 Night Moves

I don't think anyone will mind.... if they do then too bad - how else are you supposed to learn if you can't ask questions? :?

I will suggest that before you ask your question, do a keyword search on the forums to see if your question has already been answered. Other than that, go for it.

Wondering if anyone knows a mod for the bc796d to recieve cellular.
I know the scanner frequency runs through the complete range and has been trapped out on this unit. Help would be appreciated to listen freely to all frequencies.

 Night Moves

The same cell mod that exists for the BC780xlt works with both the BC785d & BC796d... you can usually find that mod listed on one of the BC780xlt yahoo groups.

I guess www.mods.dk has been holding out on us then! Thanks for the tip.

It's a useless mod. Your scanner is not going to receive anything but garbled digital noises. Unless someone is using one of those ancient bag-phones with a car battery in it, your not going to hear much.

It's been said already; no scanner made after about 1986 or so is supposed to be able to be easily modified to receive cellular phone calls. That includes any of the currently manufactured scanners. Even if you could tune the cellular phone bands, there's almost nothing left to hear, as almost all cellular traffic is now digital, and no, a digital trunktracking scanner can't receive it.

US Cellular: 824-849 MHz and 869-894 MHz. (Coincidentally, the bands that are blocked on scanners)
