Mohegan Tribal Nation Radio System

Is the Mohegan Tribal Nation in Uncasville which also includes the Mohegan Sun Casino Resort, Mohegan Tribal Police and Fire Departments on a conventional radio system or on a trunked radio system? and if they are on a trunked system can someone please submit the frequencies, control channels and talk groups (if known) to the RR database. I'll be heading up that way in a few weeks and will try to listen to the Mohegans and the Mashantucket Pequot tribes radio.

BTW, Does anyone know what laws the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes have on their books regarding the possession and use of a radio scanner on their land since County, State and U.S. Federal laws DO NOT APPLY on federally recognized Native American reservations.

Both casinos use trunked systems. Foxwoods uses a Passport LTR system. Mohegan Sun uses a MPT1327 system. Neither can be trunktracked with todays scanners.

All is not lost, though. Mohegan Fire and EMS can be heard on 33.04, and Mashantucket Fire and EMS are on 33.84. Good luck.

As long as you are spending money in their casino I doubt they care if you have a scanner!

Tribal Nations

I believe --some-- federal laws still apply on Tribal lands, some of them possibly being communications law.

I am told that Mashantucket had to go through the whole long coordination and licensing process to establish it's +++ FCC +++
radio license for their system.

(It shows up in the FCC database, so it is licensed under law.

I imagine things like OSHA regs apply also...

be interesting to check into and confirm, though.

I believe both casinos (and most do) have rules about two-way radios, and scanners within the casino. Again, Tribal land, and private property. They also frown on cellphones, but with them being so popular, its hard to keep those away.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs which is part of the U.S. Dept of Interior does have some regulations governing the operation of facilities and business operating on Indian reservations.

New Mohegan Sun Casino & Reservation Trunking system

I was looking for any sign of trunking systems for Queensland, Australia in Google and came across this entry against Tait radios concerning the Mohegan Casino (apparently the 2nd largest in the world)

Essentially the old trunking system (Motorola Smartnet) which appears in the RR trunking database has been replaced by a 18 channel MPT1327 system earlier this year with 50 call groups and 1700 radios. A leaky feeder co-ax system has been set up top to bottom throughout the 34 storey complex.

As I am outside the US I will leave it for the local database admin to follow up the entry on Radioreference trunking. To get it started I was able to retrieve 19 frequencies that were listed in the FCC database that I accessed in RR.
