• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

does anyone know the correct Molex part numbers for the 6 position pin and socket housings used in the Kenwood KAP-2 kit. I've been able to find the correct pins and sockets but am striking out on the housings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you-

Travis

I can order those or you can order from www.kenwoodparts.com
I have the KAP-2 kits but want the plug and socket housings so that I can make some modular extension cables. That is why I wanted both pin and socket housings-trying to put together something that avoids cutting the wires on the KAP-2 lead. Evans, didn't you used to work for a guy down in the Lakeland area? We met back when Dave and I worked with you guys on the ATCS receive site. If I don't have any luck on the housings I'll get back to you on the plug housings. Thank you for the reply.

As a follow-up to this thread-for those who are interested, here are some part numbers for the housings. I found them at Digikey
for around $0.35ea. I don't have numbers for the actual pins and sockets as I had plenty:

receptacle housing:
Molex # 03-06-1062
Digikey # 23-0003061062-ND

plug housing:
Molex # 03-06-2061
Digikey # WM1225-ND
