I wanted to listen to CON ED repair crews (among many other things during Sandy) but even though I have a ton of frequencies from the database for CONED, none of them seem to have any traffic.

any advice appreciated! (btw...I am on the border of brooklyn/queens)

thanks!

Con Edison is on their private iden network. No scanners is capable of monitoring them.

I guess we are SOL when it comes to monitoring energy goings on here in NYC.

I don't know why the Con Ed system is still listed since they have been using iDen for years, and I heard nothing on the Nat Grid system today after monitoring for hours, although that may have had to do with my location in Forest Hills.

The Nat Grid system has only meter readers listed for talk groups, but I figure ya never know.
