I recently have been trying to program my BC396T to receive police, public service, fire, life guards, etc. for Ocean City, NJ with no success. I have seen refernces to the fact their EDACS system is not monitorable? I vacation down there and used to like hearing what was going on. I have tried programming in the frequencies listed here in Radio Reference.com.

Does anyone have any comments, advice or frequencies for listening in Ocean City.

Thanks, Gil

First of all, Ocean County is motorola, not an EDACS system, so hopefully that is what the problem is. Second of all, most of the little towns such as seaside park, hieghts, lavalette, berkley, pt. pleasant have their own freqs found in the database. There they also have some life guard freqs too.

Check the RR database for Atlantic County I understand also that the Fire dept and EMS are not going to move at this time. EMS uses the Cape May County Freqs. You should be able to hear them with that unit. PD is not monitorable as it is encrypted.
Remember in EDACS #1 in the set is #1 and not 00 in the radio as programed

According to the data base, Ocean City police "uses Atlantic County Provoide EDACS and is unmonitorable"?

I guess I am not going to do much listening in OC!

While you may not be hearing their PD you can certainly still hear their FD (and EMS since they're part of the FD) on VHF. Their repeaters are so good I can hear them perfectly well into Atlantic County.

OCPD is Provoice on Atlantic County system while I understand that there is a seperate tower on OC.

OCFD remains on their VHF freq. (they also run the ambulance which is referred to as "RS" on OCPD).

OCBP remains on their VHF freq. except this time of year it is silent.

I have heard Cape May County Rescue dispatching for calls in Ocean City. I can monitor them on 155.295 here in Delaware most times on their dispatch vhf freq.

The only thing that would come to mind would be sending ALS "Medic 9" from Middle Twp to assist the OCFD BLS.
