Would anyone happen to know if any of the LAPD divisions can be monitored from within Orange County (particularly Huntington Beach) with an HT? It looks like Harbor Division would be closest, line of sight wise. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve heard North Hollywood from Costa Mesa so other divisions are definitely possible.

Thanks for the quick responses guys! Just curious what you guys were using to monitor them? I’m considering getting an XTS R2, but wanted some input regarding the feasibility of monitoring them from HB.

An XTS3000 (a couple years back).

I listen with an APX 8000 with no issues from OC. But keep in mind that some channels will not come in with an HT. If you have a roof top antenna you won't have any issues picking up all of the channels.

Awesome! Thanks again to all who responded for the input. Aside from Long Beach PD and LAPD, is there anything else worth listening to, in the R2 range, that can be monitored from OC?

Standing at PCH and 17th in HB I receive all of South, Central, and most of Valley Bureau, but none of the West Bureau.

Harbor Div also has a great second rebroadcast frequency off San Pedro Hill that booms inside homes on a rubby ducky all over OC.on 484.2875.

Awesome, thanks for the follow up Paul! Would you happen to have the NAC handy for the San Pedro Hill rebroadcast?

466 NAC. Used for all dispatch channels and 90% of tacs. 293 is used for a few other minor channels but 466 is the one for the main stuff.

APX6k North Hollywood and Devonshire seem to have the best signal in the HB area, I can always hear it with just a rubber-duckie

LAPDONLINE has both RD maps and Beat Maps are online by selecting the Division of interest. IE: http://assets.lapdonline.org/assets/pdf/NoHollywood_BC_09.pdf,

They can be interesting to listen to, but strange too. I've nearly fainted several times when dispatchers have broadcast an officer needs help several times and no response, as compared to doing the same as an LASD dispatcher, so many cars get on the air to respond it gets chaotic. It's a different culture I guess.

One thing I will add is they have some very excellent dispatchers there that are some of the best anywhere.
