It appears that N GA is in for it again with winter weather for Sunday and Monday. Get your batteries charged, all your milk, bread, and dry wood:roll: before Sunday nite:D

Loving living on the South side.
Only received about .5 inch down here during the Christmas snows.

Never get to monitor much with snow because I run a business where calling out due to weather isn't an option.

I sure wish that I had put Stabile in the gas tank of the generator last year!

Winter Storm Monitoring

Here are a few frequencies you might enjoy listening to regarding road situation:

GEORGIA DOT: F1 - 47.30 MHz
F2 - 47.32 MHz
F3 - 47.34 MHz
F4 - 47.40 MHz
F5 - 47.24 MHz

In addition, the various counties - trunked and conventional - may have DOT roads, traffic) frequencies or talkgroups that you can monitor for road conditions near you. Also, police and fire radio traffic often contains information about road conditions. Finally, monitor GSP - metro (Atlanta DTRS) and statewide (VHF)

Great monitoring!

Wow!
So the end of the world as the weather folks predicted, didn't happen!
Weather and roads are so bad that it took me an extra 10 minutes to get to work today...ouch.
Got to finish my cup of coffee on the commute;-)
Contrary to the misconceptions, it snows here to some extent almost every year...
how about some snow plows.

Just moved to Forsyth Co. from Chicago. I knew that this storm would not be so bad, but because these areas do not have the equipment to remove the snow, 2 inches is too much. Like bonus said, these towns should have at least some equipment to remove the snow. Its not like you need an entire fleet of trucks and plows because there is no hurry to get the roads cleared since it seems everything gets shut down once they forecast snow. All you need is a few trucks running up and down the roads and through the subdivisions. My neighbor said that they will never even get to doing the subdivisions, but the problem is that even though its just snow, once cars start driving on it it will eventually pack down and turn to ice. This is a problem because like many subdivisions in this area, they are on some steep hills.

Well, bonus 1331, and acepilot340, if you didn't catch the intent of my original post.....sarcasm dripping all over it:lol: You missed the point. Had you listened to Gwinnett, Hall, Forsyth, Cherokee, and Dawson, you would have heard all the problems FD and SO's were having getting to 41's, and injured people because of the roads, again you missed a lot.
I've been down here almost 12 years (a northern transplant from the shores of Lake Erie) where 6" of partly cloudy is not the exception. Because they don't deal with the snow amounts apparent in the north, they don't feel the need to have salt throwing plows. January, 2000 had a crippling ice storm that brought the northern counties to a standstill. Safety vehicles responding to 41's on Spaghetti Junction became stuck on the flyover bridges. They had to have the salt throwers back up on the freeway so they wouldn't get stuck:)
Friendship RD, just a couple of miles north of me, was closed by the Hall county sheriff because of road conditions. They treat the freeways as if they were rock stars, and ignore the main roads that carry all the traffic when the interstates are shut down.
Again, my original post was in jest. No need to get so serious. Especially in this forum:D

Larry,
I understand the situation, I've been listening to Forsyth Co. all day. I even found an unidentified TG, 2106 which is the snow plows for the county.

Larry,
It's the folks who made my normal trip to Publix an hour long event on Saturday and the 80% of the employees who work with me and called out due to the weather that drive me up a wall!
I know your being sarcastic, but seems most folks take heed with the fear-mongering local weather folks who predicted the end of the world...

...that and maybe the fact I'm jealous of you folks who got to hang today and monitor;-)

I feel better now

That's one I've been trying to ID:) Thanks for the info. It will go in with the regular ID's I have for the system.

OK, Wednesday, and still can't get out of the subdivision. Neighbors went for a walk yesterday and said the secondary road to our main road was a skating rink with cars off the road everywhere. The main road wasn't any better. Ya'll gotta love the South when it snows:lol::lol::lol:
