Lead (#1) talks on VHF and monitors UHF; Solo's talk on UHF and monitor VHF. This way Lead can talk to his group and not interfere with Solo's transmissions to each other and Visa Versa (?) You can often hear lead do a quick status check of everyone and you will hear 2,3 and 4 answer on VHF and then 5 and 6 answer on UHF.
