I had an MRI in Virginia beach Tuesday, I was in the area for a few hours en route from Chincoteague. And with my SDS- 100 received nothing but basically Accomack county analog and I think one marine channel trunked? I have never been able to receive STARS on the go or @ home? I had the full database running? So not sure but I know between all the channels and systems at the time I was in the area 8am - 12pm There should have been plenty of traffic! tia Mike

Division 5 is headquartered in Chesapeake, so you'd definitely want its talk groups in your scanner.

Stock antennas are notoriously bad compared to other options.

So I guess I cant receive from home base i.e. Chincoteague or surrounding areas for that matter? I have tried numerous times while on the road? But if I can't how do they communicate down this way or maybe a different system then what is listed? Also, I will be in the Virginia Beach area again on Tuesday I know I should pick up a lot of stuff in that area? thanks Mike

You should be able to receive something. I have a Pro-106 and have no problem with STARS. Eastern shore troopers are on the same talk group as troopers on the peninsula. I've also heard CBBT Police and MRC from the shore. Silly question: Are you sure you have the Accomac, Eastville & Virginia Beach sites programmed?

I'll play with my STARS file for my 436 and post it for you. On my 436 I have had no problem with receiving STARS. I am mainly on the Hampton (1/11) or Williamsburg (1/12) sites.

Be advised, one thing I have done for the STARS control channels is clean up the RR list keeping only the marked CC and Alt CC frequencies. Then I removed duplicates. One nice around 65 frequency list good throughout the Commonwealth.
