LOCATION: I-76 westbound lanes at milepost 66 near Wiggins, CO. (Morgan
County)
On 6-1-08 at approximately 10:21 A.M. Troopers responded to the westbound lanes of I-76 at milepost 66 near Wiggins, CO.
A silver 2001 Honda Passport was traveling westbound on I-76. The vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck a sign and then a delineator post. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle entered back onto the westbound lane of I-76 while out of control. The Honda went off the left side of the roadway and continued onto the center median while rolling several times and came to its final rest onto its top facing in a northwesterly manner.
The female driver has been identified as a 61 year old female of Lincoln, NE. The driver was improperly restrained and was partially ejected during the rollover and sustained fatal injuries. The driver's name is being with held at this time due to next of kin notification.
A restrained female passenger within the vehicle has been identified as Shelley L. Shotkoski, 41 of Lincoln, NE. Shotkoski sustained serious injuries and was airlifted from the scene and transported to the Northern Colorado Medical Center of Greeley, CO.
A restrained 12 year old boy was also within the Honda. The boy sustained serious injuries and was airlifted from the scene and transported to Children's Hospital of Denver, CO. The boy's name is also being with held at this time due to next of kin notification.
The relationships with all the occupants are unknown at this time.
Alcohol, drugs and speed are not suspected as contributing factors.
Next of kin have not been notified.
