This system is listed as having 4 zones 2 custom frequency tables. When programming in the above radios can all 4 zones be placed in one bank or must the frequencies for each zone be placed in a separate bank ?

Those radios will use the first control channel they recieve if they are all in the same bank. So if you put them all in one bank and the first control channel is worse then one after it it is going to use the first one (worse one).....

I have the pro 96, I have all of the channels programmed in
within 1 bank.

I was sitting in Rockaway Twp all day on Thanksgiving after
the snow fell in the morning so the DPW guys where gone by then
so the chance of me receiving anything went way down.

Anyway all afternoon monitoring that system there was zero
radio traffic on my radio within the Morris County TRS
system so any insight on how the system is used when it 's used
would be helpful to me.

Now I do hear the Morris County DPW 2x2 to 3x3 in Harrison NJ
Hudson County NJ when it snows on a 796D so I know what I have
programmed for the system works.

There are so people here that will be able to help out here
so I am eager to watch the replies.

You should have no issues picking up the TRS in Rockaway as there is a tower both in Dover and in Jefferson. I do know that directional antennas are used so sometimes reception outside of the county is sketchy.

Were you only listening to the DPW talkgroup? If so then that's the possible problem. Any snowfall last Thursday was mostly melted by or before noon so there would be no need for them to be working past then especially since it was a holiday. COMM2 (Sheriff/Park Police Dispatch) is the most active talkgroup and I heard them throughout the day.

On another note I have all the frequencies for the system programmed into my 396T under one system and have no issues when driving around of it picking up a weaker control channel instead of a stronger one. So the answer to the first post is yes you can program it that way without issues. Perhaps there is only an issue when using Control Channel mode, which I don't use.

Thanks for your response - Many roads last Thursday where being treated by the road department in Morris County between 3:30 AM and 5:30 AM - We where following
them via there route chart while monitoring there road conditions they do an outstanding job I miss the old high band system. air and Surface temps where under or near freezing.

BTW besides a career EMS chief for a Bergen County Police Department I also own
my own weather consulting service that's why I was so trans fixed to there weather
roads - Those guys and the NJ Turnpike 159.180 PL 131.8 do a nice job on ground
truthing what we are seeing on Radar also with other meso net weather tools
will use in house here.

Anyway while I was in Rockaway I have most of the ANALOG stuff programmed and heard nothing. Now I do not know if that is normal and how many agencies use the new system.
So I guess something is programmed wrong or it was very quiet.

Happy Holidays

During normal business hours (8 to 4:30) you should hear a good amount of traffic on the analog talkgroups. MAPS, Road Dept, and MUA are the most active.

On the digital side COMM2 (dispatch for Sheriff and Park PD) has traffic. I've listened and didn't hear anything for over an hour at a time, then it will be busy for a bit.

Holidays, such as Thanksgiving have all the non-public safety agencies off and only a skeleton crew working for the Sheriff and Park PD.

Evenings most of the traffic is just Park PD.
