I can't get it to work for the life of me. Using my brand new 996T, programmed with ARC996 using the download feature from RR. Tried everything including switching between Control Channel only, adding all frequencies from the database. I have each site system programmed in as Motorola Type 2 UHF, and I know that there are both digital and analog TG's in the system. Should I change that to Motorola APCO-25? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have it in the butel as "motorola type 2/p25" as the system type.

Then in the sites I have it as "motorola type 2 uhf"

Don't know if that helps.

You sure you are in range of the system and they recently added some new frequencies, but my understanding is that if you are using control channel only, then you should be good.

No. P-25 is to be programmed for 9600-baud digital trunk systems; the Morris County system (1) should be programmed as a Moto Type II UHF, particularly since it's mixed-mode digital and analog and (2) should have the correct band plan as noted in the database (base freq, step, and offset).

OK, now I'm getting aggrivated.

Every frequency listed on this site is now in the 996. It is set to control channel only. The System is set to Moto Type 2/P25, and each site is Moto Type 2 UHF.

Now when it scans the system, it says:

Zone 1
ID SCAN ID SCAN
865.4675

There is some random 800 or 500 mhz channel listed there. What gives? The scanner is tracking every other system in there correctly (NJSP, Union County and Township, just to name a few) and also is receiving P25 audio without a problem (Parisppany PD, Cranford PD).

I live in Madison, very close to Morristown. Also I have a discone on top of a 3 story house at the top of a hill. This is not a reception issue.

HELP!!!

Did you program the Base/Offset?

Custom Frequency Table

Base Spacing Offset
471.0000 12.5 380
476.0000 12.5 520

At the time of this posting and based upon your location you should be receiving 476.5500 as the control channel. I would also just program the South site - Zone 1 (unless your 996 is mobile in your car)

Did you add the 2 newer frequencies as well? (http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89350) I had an issues several weeks ago where it would trunk but not receive any audio until I was tiold they added a total of 4 new frequencies to the system.

Wow, I don't know how I missed this. Butel, for whatever reason, had the spacing at 100.0 and both offsets were set to 380.

Thanks sybex for making me less of an idiot. Cheers.

I am in Orange county NY. I can hear this system but am having problems programing.

Would someone please tell me how to program for both a uniden 996t and a Radio shack pro 2096.

I did try a download from the RR database and all it downloads are the control channels.

http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=1319

Do you need all the frequencies ? I am looking at site 2.

In win96 would I have to click on custom table ?
Then use base frequency 471.000
offset 380
step size 12.50

ALso any help with uniden pro 996t using butel software would help.

In advance I would like to thank any and all who might help me with this matter.

The 996 should be used in CC-only mode whenever possible (just as the 396). The 2096 only operates in CC-only mode.

CC-only mode is going to give you the best performance on this system.

If you use the web-import on both the Butel software for the 996 & Win96 for the 2096, it should download all the appropriate data for you, and put it in the right place automatically...
