I heard it's going to be a simulcast paging channel on UHF T band. I remember seeing a pending license in the FCC database.

Interesting, but I'm guessing its only going to be utilized for towns on the TRS. Not all of Morris Co. Wish Morris TRS was like Somerset.

The idea is that once they get their new center built they will be able to take on all of the towns. Many of the towns are already in talks with the county. There is considerable cost savings for the towns to lose their individual centers. I sure hope they don't plan on running all of the county off one alert channel. There would be too much demand for a single channel. I would assume they would have a few simulcasted alert channels divided some how, East/West or North/South for example.

I would think they would break it down at least to the four regions in the county and then into fire or ems.

If it's purely for alerts, then it shouldn't be too crazy.

Unless you're talking about Roxbury. Ever listen to their paging? Over a minute and 45 seconds of tones to page out a simple fire call. Ever hear of general call? Sheesh, talk about wasted airtime. That extra minute and 35 seconds to get to voice message out can potentially save someone's lfe.

Is that all of the time? They maybe paging all companies if it's during the day.

They are paging all the companies. My point is why not use a general call? Send out the 1 second/3 second tones, followed by the warble. In less than 10 seconds you can start sending out the voice message. A savings of over 1 minute of time.

That can save lives.

Sounds like Hunterdon County. Every hear them tone out 22 Fire? Brutal to listen to. Warren County isn't much better with their pager test every night on all the fire & squads (they split it up in 4 groups). That's so bad I turn that bank off between 6-6:30 every night.

Mount Olive has/had a "Citywide" tone. But I think it depends on who's at the desk if it's needed and gets used.

Attention all companies, there was a difficulty breathing at blah blah main street, but do not respond as they are probably dead because of our four minutes of paging tones.

That's correct.

The citywide tone activates ALL pagers fire/ems in both Budd Lake and Flanders. Generally used for working fires or major incidents. 1 Tone and you have 200 responders listening.

The regular tones were also shortened, and the siren tones (activation of emergency sirens around town) were also removed.

So, it's much quicker and cleaner.

Roxbury really needs to revamp their deal, it's way too long.

My sources are telling me the new paging frequency will be 476.2875 when it goes online. Units will then call in service on the TRS.

I didn't even think to search to see if they licensed something up already. Actually, I have a friend that is a volly for an FD dispatched by the County. They are currently being paged off low-band but are starting to buy UHF Minitor 5's.
