I'm trying to figure out which Fire Departments cover and respond to Morristown Airport. Although it is located in Hanover Township, I belive Morristown Fire is first due and may even have units assigned there. Can anyone confirm this?

Also, how do other departments get dispatched there? If Morristown PD gets the call for an in-flight emergency, do they dispatch Morristown Fire? If so, what about all the mutual aid departments such as Morris Township, Morris Plains, Cedar Knolls/Whippany, Florham Park, etc. Does the dispatcher have to call each police/fire department indivually and advise them so they can dispatch their respective units? This seems time consuming. And everyone has different frequencies, some even on VHF instead of UHF like Cedar Knolls. How do they communicate with one another? Is there a common channel that they all go to? Sounds like an interoperability nightmare. All help appreciated.

There maybe be 1 or two trucks at the airport, but nothing significant. If there is a reported plane crash it's automatic mutual aid. The Morristown Police and Fire Depts. handle the Airport.

Before MIRS was implemented, all mutual aid requestes were done over SPEN 1. After that, towns would sign-on with there respective dispatchers. I would imagine that once the county installs the MIRS radios in the rest of the county they would use that for an incident at the airport.

MIRS is not a separate frequency but is part of the Morris County Trunked System. UTAC 1, 2, and 3 are conventional simplex channels and are, therefore, very short range.

Morristown Airport

Metro Rural has the contract and has a ARFF Crash Truck stationed at the MMU.Also, the
plan was for MFD to provide FMBA F/F'S at the Airport when this all started, but the Mange-
ment didn't want the Town to do that for some reason. Also, MFD respondes with E-2 that
has the Foam system on it, and the Shift Captain also respondes. The other FD's that also
respond are Morris Township, Florham Park, Madison, East Hanover Township, Hanover
Township. All these department's are part of the Black Meadow Mutual Aid Agreement.
