We have been using MOSCAD since 1995. We use it for 3 things here:
1. Outdoor warning siren activation (civil defense/tornado sirens)
2. Fire dispatch
3. Sewer pump station control
We have 108 sirens.
The Fire dept uses moscad all the time...
Basically, the dispatcher can:
1. Activate an announce tone in the stations for routine messages..."overtime slot is available tonight at station x" or "wife of captain jones has passed away - the funeral will be at..."
2. Activate the alert tone in the station(s), turn on the lights and raise the doors. Voice to station's speakers is sent over another 800 Mhz trunked talkgroup separate from data
3. Close garage doors after the trucks pull out and ask headquarters to shut them
4. Turn off the stove if the firefighters forgot to or are out longer than expected.
5. Open the garage doors when the trucks return (used when it is raining out and the dispatcher isn't too busy)
