To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Most motorola cps for various radios has a check box in the conventional personality field for receive only. I would guess its probably the same for the GP380. Have fun with the new radio!

I'm sorry GP380 I saw GP300 when I looked the first time. You should be a check box for rx only. I know there is in HT1250 cps not sure if GP380 is the same, I have never seen it.

Gp 380

Nick,

The GP-380 is set up something like the HT1250 using the CPS. When you open the tree view and select channel setup... you should be able to program the same frequency in the tx section as the rx, assuming you just want to listen... enter the same data..pl/dpl tones & text tag on both. The problem with the GP is that it is an asian radio and is not classified through the FCC for use in the US... just a heads up. so make sure that you keep the radio close to you, and out of the hands of someone else. Once you start navigating through the CPS you will figure out all the features to it. I got a GP myself so if you got any additional questions shoot me a PM.
