• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I just pick up a Moto HSN1005a amplified speaker but it did not come with any documentation.

Does anyone know the pinouts on the connector?
there are 6 pins but only 5 have wires attatched.

looking into the connector with the locking clip on top the wires are as follows:

Empty | Red | Red
Blue | Black | Red

I found that pic also but I'm still a little confused
I got the center 2 pins as power
the 2 left pins are actually tied together
am I to connect 1 speaker wire to the upper right pin and 1 to the upper center?
the lower right pin has no wire on it
I'm trying to hook this up to my scanner and don't want to screw it up

Where did you find a mate connector for that odd molex size? I just chopped it off and your left with a red(+12), a black(ground) and a blue(speaker audio input). I directly wired it into the radio I am using and it works great.

I didn't find a connector
I was going to call Motorola (corporate is only a 1/2 hour from me) to see if I could get one but I ended up chopping it off and doing as you did

-A hook-up cable came with my speaker. I left it attached at the speaker end. At the other end I cut off the jack and split out the wires from the cable jacket. This worked for me with no hum on the audio:

RED + 12 Volts (positive) = to external power supply / battery
BLACK - 12 Volts (negative) = to external power supply / battery
BLUE - Audio input (inner conductor / tip) = cabled to external speaker jack on radio
Bare silver shield wire - Audio input (outer conductor / ring) = cabled to external speaker jack on radio

Quite loud and fairly clear up to near maximum volume. When you reach ear splitting levels you get a fair amount of distortion.

Happy Scanning! - Ted
