Motorola MTS2000

Just purchased a Motorola MTS2000 48 Channel radio. I have know experience in programming radios. What software do I need to get started and where can I get it? I also know I need to get a cable to connect my radio to my pc. I’ve seen many of these on E-bay. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

You'll need either the RSS or CPS software, version depends on what was last used to program the radio.

Also a RIB box and the programming cable.

Software can only legally be obtained from Motorola parts dept @ 1-800-422-4210

There are aftermarket RIB boxes and cables available from various sources. Be careful when programming a radio using an aftermarket cable or RIB box though. If the communications to the radio fails during the programming the radio will need to go to Motorola for repair.

Might want to check to see what type of OS is required of your computer to make sure you have compatability with the programming gear from Motorola.
If not take it to any authorized Motorola dealer, and for an nominal fee they will program the radio for you. Make sure you have your required documentation with you, letter of authorization from an line officer with whatever agency your affiliated with, or business, etc..... and all that other good stuff.

RSS is Radio Service Software.
CPS is Customer Programming Software.

Guess which one the 'customer' is most likely to be unable to obtain. :roll:
