• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,

as collector of Motorola radios I acquired long time ago Motorola Visar too.
I found the good battery for this radio now so I would really like to program the radio and use it.
Many of Motorolas I programmed already but I never did it in case of Visar.
Could someone try to guide me which software (CPS) and RIB-less cable should I buy and where?
I can see many of them on eBay but I am a bit lost.
No DOS machines available just 64-bits PCs but no problem to use RS232 to USB adapter for me.

Motorola Visar is H05RDH9AA7DN - 16channels UHF1 range model please.

Many thanks in advance.

You will need a DOS computer, HT1000 RSS, a RIB, & the Visar programming cable. Some people trick newer XP computers to work, but I don’t think a 64 bit machine would qualify.

I thought that the XP Operating System was only 32-Bit.

If you are unable acquire the necessary hardware, etc. to program your Visars, I can do that for you. I have several Visars myself. Let me know if I can help.

Not to hijack your thread, but I have the exact same model. If you don’t mind saying, where did you source your battery from? I’ve seen lithium ions on the ‘bay that come with a wall-wart charger. Is that where you got it? Thanks

There are several sources for Visar batteries. Batteries America, Cut-Rate Batteries, and others. Some are 1200 Mah and some are 2100 Mah. Don't be fooled by comparing prices unless they're the same capacity.

Well I purchased it here: MOTOROLA Visar | AVACOM - baterie & akumulátory
for about $25 but I guess it is far away from you as it is in Czech Republic, EU...
