• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Okay, I feel like I'm either trying to re-invent the wheel, or I'm simply asking myself the wrong questions

Agency is in the process of transitioning from analog using 2-Tone paging for tone outs, to Mototrbo. Radio has a standby channel that is set up as a pager channel, muting all radio traffic until toned. Easy enough. I know that Mototrbo is not compatible with 2-Tone paging, so... new plan.

I was attempting to use the Digital Emergency function, with a default to a channel that broadcast on All Call. My idea was that, that would allow the same basic function...but apparently you can't do that.

I'm looking for a way, to have the radio alert and pass traffic only when the digital emergency is activated, all on a single talkgroup. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Working with xpr 7550's and 2500's.

We encountered the same issue out our department earlier this year. I could not find anything about how to achieve this whatsoever. Dispatch is able to transmit our tones over the DMR system, but like you stated, it does not alert the radios. We have other departments in the county that use the same method but dispatch is not able to transmit their tones (something to do with patches in the console.. idk) so they use "Alert 2" -the
"beeboobeeboo" alert tones to dispatch those other departments. I don't think as of right now there is a way to accomplish what your trying to do, with basically have the radio silent unless called, without having a lot of stuff on the dispatchers end to send out a call alert to all the radios.

P.S. - you might want to update your topic a bit too, to get more responses. Something like MotoTrbo tone out or QCII. Just a thought!

Good luck! Hopefully someone comes along with a solution so I can pass this along to our guys too.

Actually it is. Even Unication supports Quick Call over DMR now.

I forgot about this, and I did suggest to them that they get a couple Unication's with an amp charger for each station, but they didn't do it. That would be the only way I could think of right now as you cannot set up QCII on a digital channel (Motorola), as of now.

I have seen a company performing 2 tone paging over a Capacity Max system using option board code. It was working when I was watching the system. I am unsure if they have the same thing for non-Cap Max, but in my ape brain, it seems trivial to accomplish. The company was DApage. TT

I was about to create a new thread for CPS Digital Emergency, and came across this, so I will post what my challenge is and hopefully somebody out there in RadioReference land will know what the issue is? Anybody know how to get the Contact in the Digital Emergency to work like Capacity Plus Emergency Contact? Only revert channel works.
