Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all,
Looking for help on how to enable Restricted Access to System on a VHF XPR4550. I have searched and have not seen this specific question. If I read the radio, the field is not there under the Security tab. However, if I open the Moto SAMPLE for the XPR4550, it is there and I can make it work, but the sample is for UHF. I don't have and can not find a VHF sample codeplug. I found someone had one posted here, but it also does not show the RAS section under Security. What am I missing to get this enabled? Any assistance would be appreciated. I am using CPS 16.0 with radios that have not been changed or updated for 4-5 years, so firmware is around 1.09. Is it a firmware issue? Thanks!

What firmware version is in your XPR4550 radio? I think you are going to find that you need to bring the Firmware up to date before you will see RAS as an available feature. Hope you're still using CPS 16....

If RAS is showing up on a sample codeplug but not the one for your radio, it is very likely the radio might have a version of the firmware installed that pre-dates RAS. You will need to update your radio. Current firmware version for the 4550's is 1.12.17 & Codeplug version 13.02.03

Updating firmware to 1.12.17 did work, thank you for the replies! Just have to do a lot more of them now.
