Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Would someone please be so kind to help me or direct me to either a forum or a video on how to successfully program my xpr3500e. Specifically Im trying to program this frequency FCC Callsign WPIW766 (DUNCAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS) into my radio. Is it even possible with the information given on this website? BTW I do have the appropriate software.

well first of all the License is Expired.
Second there is more than one frequency and in two bands VHF and UHF - what band is your xpr3500e and then which freq are you trying to program ??

As stated above, the 3500e is a mono band radio, which do you have? Also I'll assume you're only wanting to receive only? Which CPS software do you have?

MOTOTRBO CPS2 My radio is VHF. I had this exact radio before already programmed to all of the channels in my area, however I sold it, had I known it would be this hard to program, I would have copied the radio. Yes receive only, basically use as a scanner.

You could have only VHF or UHF in the 3500e, the radio by design won't do but one band at a time. If it's VHF, you likely had all the VHF channels in the radio.

What appropriate software do you have? Still waiting on that answer.

Welcome to the forum but as others have said you will be much better off.
A second thought seeing as you do not know what you are doing you will be alot safer.
I'm going to have to agree with this. Anytime anyone starts programming radios on PS frequencies and is not 100% sure of what they're doing, you're a ticking time bomb. Can that radio be made to be receive only on that frequency? Yes, My 3500e's do that on several frequencies as well as transmit on a bunch. That being said, it took me quite a while and a lot of learning and supervision prior to working with the commercial radios and making them work on other than the ham bands. (where I'm licensed to transmit). Good luck but honestly you're better off with a scanner till you get this figured out.

I have an XPR3500 (UHF Version) and I had a learning curve but i managed to get it programmed and can monitor and transmit for Analog and DMR Systems on Ham Radio Repeater
it does take some time to get familiar and comfortable using CPS 2.0 and also lots of Video on YT that will teach and show how to get a code plug created .
the XPR3500 is a great radio and does have good scanning capabilities but as stated You need to be very careful with the programming on a commercial radio.
You will get there but need to be patient and also put in the time learning

Ya I'm still up in the air whether I I like the 3550 or the 6550 better. I do like the full keypad on the 6550 better occasionally we actually text locally in DMR. If the OP takes his time and learns what's up, he'll get that thing going in no time.

I nave TRBO CPS 2. I understand the software, My question is. Is the information provided here on radio reference enough info, to hear the channels, like the two I have posted. Is it as simple as popping in the frequency, and bam I can hear the radio traffic?

If it's analog, PL/DPL would be good to know.
If it's digital, you'll need to know the info like color code, time slot, and TGID.

It is digital. Ive got all of that info, If im trying to find the inboud color code will that be the information from the repeater? I need two color codes im assuming the outbound color code is the one listed on the specific frequency, but inbound color code would be found from the repeater info?

DMR has only one color code for using repeater.

Is the talk group required to be programmed if I only want to listen, and not transmit

Yes a takgroup is required.

Going forward you need to enter a slot either 1 or 2

A color code 0-15. I think color code of 0 is rarely used.

And finally what ever the talkgroup number is to receive.

Oh brother, seriously? Have you tried the little + icon??

You can't figure out something so simple, how do you expect to program a whole digital codeplug?
