• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Yes, I have on for my Pro96. It mounts to the floor using a seat bolt and it is very heavy duty, as the ad states. You can angle the mount in whatever direction gives you the best view of the scanner. Mine is in a Suzuki Grand Vitara and I imagine it would work about the same in your Pathfinder. For less than $20.00, it hardly pays to make your own.

I've also nocited that you probably have to take the belt clip off for mounting, as well as possibly no room for the A/C adapter plug? I'll do some thinking, maybe I could come up with something under $20 cost.

No, you don't have to take the belt clip off and there's plenty of room for the power plug. The jaws open to about 5 inches and have soft foam rubber linings so they conform to the power plug. The jaws are also deep enough to accommodate the belt clip. You can homebrew one if you want but I suggest you give the commercial version a try first. You can always return it if it doesn't work for you.

Thanks, that's good info! Could you possibly post a pic of your setup with different views than the mount guys site has?

Anyone have experience with this mount from Mount Guys?

http://www.mountguys.com/product_p/cm625-scanner.htm

More specifically in a Nissan Pathfinder? What about home-brew mounts, are they even worth making?

I tried one in my 2006 Pathfinder in a cup-holder mount.

It was always getting in the way of the DC plug.

The holding power is pretty weak too, and the cheap plastic didn't last long
under routine abuse and a summer in the hot sun.

YMMV.

Looks like the one made by Arkon that I got off of Ebay. It fit my Pro96 fine, and the flexible arm is very strong, so you won't have to worry about any "sag" due to the weight of the scanner.
