Hi can anyone tell me what repeater I can use a Motorola mrti 2000 with I just acquired this unit and would like to put it to use or is this unit too obsolete

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Pretty much any repeater that supports external control. The ones I dealt with were all interfaced to MTR2000 repeaters but I dont know of any still in use that I installed or maintained. TI is kind of a thing of the past with cell phone use. I'm sure there are some use cases in rural america but it would be limited

An MRTI2000 can talk with pretty much any MOTOTRBO repeater through the rear connector. One Call per Repeater over a four wire ----

does that mean a new connecter cable would need to be made depending on the repeater used

I just checked a repeater in my garage and it has a MRTI 2000 on it. Someone gave it to me and it already had plugs for a Quanter, I just plugged it in and it worked. Someday I'll read the manual and reprogram it.
I've been looking for one if its possible to use on my RICK repeater build.
I remember in the 80s we linked two repeaters when needed on the awestruck Maui mountains. I believe we were using GR repeaters. I don't remember how we connected the MRTI.
Anyone have one for sale?
