161.22 Metro North PD
160.455 LIRR PD (Queens and LI)
160.32 LIRR PD (Manhattan and Flatbush Term)

There are PLs but I believe only dispatch transmit PL and not field units

CqDx,

PL 123.0 is used by field units on the Northern Region channel (161.220). Central is csq.

PL 151.4 is used by field units on the Eastern Region channel (160.455). The Base uses 114.8.

PL 114.8 is used on Eastern Region's 160.320R.

MTA PD frequencies

The MTA PD replaced the LIRR PD and the Metro North PD as one combined department as of Jan. 1, 1998. Each of those agencies kept their respective frequencies they were using at that time. The operating railroads continued to exist as they were. The frequencies used were licensed under those railroads at that time and through agreements with those railroads the new MTA PD has continued to use them. The system is quite varied from location to location. In the Eastern Region which is comprised of Penn. Station and points east there are both repeater and simplex systems. In the northern region there is on a simplex system. Both systems are supplemented with NEXTEL which is used quite a bit. A new 700-800 system is on the horizon which will be used by not only the PD’s but the railroads that the PD’s are assigned to protect. As SCANdal correctly pointed out the bases do not transmit a PL, only the field units do. A small in-house repeater system is used inside Penn station so don’t expect to hear a big power house signal. NJ TPD has been listed as Metro North RR has a “West of Hudson” line and it does go through parts of NJ. Amtrak PD is listed due to the fact they have a PD unit within Penn Station. BTW Johnny if you are located in Ct. you are in District 8 which is in the North Region.

I’ve listed the frequency use plan for the field units below :

NYS MTA PD Frequency Use - Mobile Units

161.2200 / 161.2200 PL 123.0 / CSQ North Region Dispatch F-1
160.5600 / 160.5600 PL 123.0 / CSQ North Region F-2 Car – Car

161.4900 / 160.3200 PL 151.4 / 114.8 Penn Station Repeater
160.4550 / 160.4550 PL 151.4 / CSQ East Region Dispatch “E-1”
160.6050 / 160.6050 PL 151.4 / CSQ East Region Car- Car “E-2”

161.5200 / 160.8300 PL 179.9 / CSQ NJ TPD 1
160.8300 / 160.8300 PL 123.0 / CSQ NJ TPD 2

160.3650 / 161.2950 PL 131.8 / 131.8 Amtrak PD Penn Station
160.3650 / 161.2950 PL 156.7 / 156.7 Amtrak PD SNYD
161.2050 / 161.2050 PL CSQ / CSQ Amtrak Car – Car

Good scanning,
Spec

They are also building an 800 MHz system (5 frequency pairs) that will tie in to the NYSWN.

Spec,

My notes are in agreement with the majority of your info above...execpt the following:

I show Headquarters using PL 114.8 on E1 (the old PD-1). Have they finally seen the light and set it up the same as Northern Region's dispatch, with the base csq?

Scanner Master shows an output PL of 123.0 on the NJT PD1 channel (and, by extention, PD2). In addition, my notes show the input to by 160.520.

Lastly, PL 146.2 was used on AmTrak's car-to-car channel. No more?

SCANdal,
I've got 114.8 here in Nassau County as the PL... a unit was just sent to investigate an alarm for a TVM (ticket vending machine--I didn't know what TVM was either) in Merrick. Also, I have heard MTA PD on Nassau PD freq. as recent as last week...Nassau sent a 5th PCT car in Elmont to a smoke detector alarm on Hempstead Turnpike and up popped an MTA car #2 giving the 5th Pct car a disregard as they were right in front of that building as the alarm sounded, caused by contractors doing work...all on Nassau's freq.

Yes and no. Half way there. Not everything is up yet althought that will be the plan hopefully. "Central" is set up with the east and north on opposite sides of the room , and each side usually has no clue as to the others operations. Basically they put two systems into one room and moved very slow on the system upgrades. The CAD system was one that SFPD (if I remember) got rid of because it was obsolete in the late 90's. Once the 700-800 system gets up the MCT's will be used as will be WiFi portables. The vhf system on voice will be used less and less. and the system is planned to interconnect to SWN . Even if SWN was to not be implemented the MTA's system would still be a stand alone. However the "New" system will handle a lot more traffic than the PD. There are quite a few sites in place already.

Never was and is not used by the NYS MTA PD. Maybe NYC's transit PD, but not the NYS MTA PD of which there is no connection.

Spec,

155.760 is not (and never was) an NYPD Transit Bureau frequency. As the hyperlink in Sybex's post above indicates, it is an MTA Police frequency. It's use is unknown to me, as I've never heard any transmissions on the frequency.

The 155.760 was set up as a repeater on 2 Broadway for lower Manhattan, but the NYCT radio people working on the system then moved on and it like most of the MTAPD system was never finished.

It's truly a ridiculous system, PL on the TX side only because old bases couldn't add it on their side.

The Staten Island District used Metro21 but only on portables, old stuff in their vehicles.

I'm amazed that it still works.
