Have never really heard anything before on these, but I have them programmed in anyways.

This morning during cleanup as some of us have gotten a pile of snow over night, I managed to hear some activity that sounded like plows talking to each other, no mention of where they were or what highway they were on, but likely either Hwy 17,60, or 132 which are the closest provincial highways to me as my town intersects all 3.

Frequency I heard the activity on was

143.805MultipleM103.5 PLMTO Enf SimEnforcement - SimplexFMLaw Tac

I did not hear the plow activity however on
143.805MultipleM114.8 PLMTO Mtc SimMaintenance - SimplexFMPublic Works

They also use this frequency whenever they do echelon plowing on the 400 series highways in the GTA. It's worth popping this one in on your mobile scanner if you do a lot of driving. And for the hams that have rigs that cover 2 meters, you can also monitor this one.

Same here on the 401 and 400 highways. FM analog 143.805 / 103.5 tone. Occasionally I hear some P25 on the same frequency, but not much.
I'm in North York.

I wonder if the crews here are dialing over to the old FleetNet stuff. The road crews in Toronto, I hear on 143.805 but in analog with 103.5 PL,

I'm probably the one confused here but we're talking about MTO, not MOS that has the plow/winter maintenance along the 401 in the GTA? MTO would be doing commercial enforcement, monitoring road conditions and perhaps clearing small road hazards but otherwise it's IMOS that does the crash trucks, debris clearing and plowing along the 400-series and QEW in the GTA?

DB note on OnQ says they're on FleetConnect but FleetConnect note says they're on OnQ.

I would assume the encryption is MTO Enforcement. Back in the FleetNet days, they used the same frequency as AMC crews, but in P25 mode. I suspect the same now.

My understanding is that MTO is two divisions - enforcement and maintenance. The MTO maintenance we hear on FleetNet/LMRN are supervisors / staff who would be delegating and looking after those road crews that are contracted... but if someone wants to correct me, please do. Wouldn't say the weather reports are my absolute favourite thing to listen to. so not too frequently I listen.

MTO Enforcement are effectively police, with the same training and capabilities, but focused on commercial/vehicle enforcement.

The ONQ/FleetConnect notes are very confusing and could likely use clarification.

PHM is contracted out to various companies. Here in the GTA, some of those companies have their own radios on OnQ / FleetConnect. They still use LMRN to speak to the TOC, but they use their own system to talk to each other, or for other areas they also have contracts with.

The IMOS folk that patrol the 407 are on FleetConnect, the Brennan folk that do the 401 are on OnQ.

I have also heard that 143.235 may also be a MOT frequency. The 143805,143.175 and 143.235 are supposed to be simplex channels used for roadside work crews/ traffic control that type of thing.
