• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

When I enter into each of these section there are multiple choices, apart from the frequency 449.7000 etc what does the rest of these setting do all ove the package, I have printed of the help and am struggling to get it figured out and worked together, and dirextons would be great or any old notes from when someone started.

Vertex vx 160 standard vx-351
Motorola mts 2000
I noticed that wach makes calls things differently, both the ICOM and Vertx will put out an emergancy call or tone at the push of a button but the mts2000 will not top displays and full key display

you are looking at the varios signalling types the radio is capable of. but remember just because the type is in the menu dosnt mean that the radio will support it.

my head hurt reading the OP's post.

the documentation you get from Motorola when you get your CPS from them includes a CPS user guide. that's a good starting point. they also give classes (and charge accordingly) on using their CPS for various radios.

what specifically are you asking?

HI
Thanks for the speedy replys, if radios are used in very noisy places, night clubs etc, verbal communication is not ideal to say the least, Icom F22 and vertex vx160 have the facility to press say the top side button and this will send a coded tone out, can the MTS 2000 do the same. The MTS 2000 are back to back on 449. channels. Apologise for the vague question after searching for some time it becomes a real issue, Can I program an MTS 2000 not trunked to send out a tone that is audible on other radios tuned to the same frequency, and as the Vertex, can I alter the type of tone or bleeps it sends, say if the radio upstairs if keyed my radio will recieve say 5 bleeps, down stairs radio keyed say 2 bleeps
Thanks

aside from the headset which is a great idea for your niosy enviorment, you could select signalling (MDC) yjis will give a tone to the sender along with a data burst to the reciever. Another advantage is if you have a display capable unit you can see who transmitted.

BTW 449 is ham radio I wouldnt recommend using the radios on ham freq for commercial use. Hams are notorious on tracking down such users and complicating thier lives. I recommend if your commercial use commercial frequencies (licenced of corse)

You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone.

Sorry moderators I just couldn't resist it, this thread is really way out there

if the radio is flashed for it, you can enable singletone signaling on one of the side buttons as a repeater access tone. the problem is not all MTS2000's come flashed with it. what is the flashcode on the radios in question?

Hi
Excellent thank you all for your reply's, I have a business radio license for the UK, and will check what frequencies I use with Ofcom thanks, HI MM, to boldly go where no mans been before, and I bet you have, not really out there, I have spent a lot of time etc researching things I have no real background in this, so I am here asking the experts, but will re-read the post and adjust to suit, have a good one, HI Mts2000Des, excellent thanks for the informative reply, I have listed what info I have some are top display and others buttons on the front,
Codeplug-000B
Firmware-05.44
Package-h38
Flash 001008-000000-0
Hi Gary 123 thanks, I checked my data and the freq I use is within my license the 449.3125 etc, thanks, I personally use earbone earpieces especially for night clubs and football but not everyone have these and would be willing to pay the price for these, and a tone would be ideal for alerting everyone of any issues and if different tones etc could be used this would be easy to follow, thanks again and have a great night chaps.
David
