I found the driver but instead of it saying 325P2 it's says 996P2.
It's the same driver for all the late model Uniden scanners. Works with my 436HP, 536HP, HP-1, 325P2, SDS100 & SDS200.I found the driver but instead of it saying 325P2 it's says 996P2.
If you cannot turn it on except when using external power, then something is wrong with either one of the batteries, or with the battery circuit in the scanner. Using brand new alkalines, that should rule out a bad battery. Even though you can't charge them, they should run the scanner.OK. Now I'm getting a COM error because the radio isn't on and i'll be unable to turn it on even with brand new alkaline batteries.
What if the radio doesn't turn on with alkaline batteries? Would I need a powered port?Disconnect the cable and turn the radio off. Connect the cable. It should ask Start Charging ? Press the ./No button. Leave the cable attached. Turn the radio on. With the charging turned off, it is safe to use alkaline batteries.
Kinda. It says “uniden bearcat ... All rights reserved” and then it shuts off.Did the radio work with batteries before you inserted the cable?
I don’t know if it’s under warranty. I got it from offer-up for $130 because the seller said it wouldn’t power on with NiMh batteries that he only charged for 10 minutes or alkaline cells and seeing how it’s outdated for quite a while. The warranty is most likely void or gone.If the radio does not operate on battery power with good batteries, it looks like you have a problem with the battery circuit in the scanner. I don't see any settings that would affect that. Did you have the charge set to off with the alkaline batteries? It will detect batteries that cannot be charged and display Battery Error. The fact that the radio comes on for a short time using batteries indicates to me that you probably have a failure of an electronic component. Is the radio under warranty? I think it is time to send it in for repair. Do other members of the forum agree with my diagnosis? I welcome your comments.
Yeah. Not like I can do anything about it. I tried all sorts of things including hooking it up to my powerbank to make it at least portable. I wanted to test every connection with a multimeter but it might make things worse or not resolve it.The battery problem was probably the reason you got it so cheap.
The failure to operate with batteries is not something you could correct with programming. Probably your next step would be to send it in for repair. You can start that process on this page:Yeah. I don’t really have that amount of money. Besides i’m sure it can be fixed somehow. It might be a simple mistake or a issue with internal charging. I accidentally left the NiMh batteries at my mom’s house so hopefully once I get those back it’d work. The failure to operate with batteries is not something you could correct with programming. The cost to repair a 325P2 is $89.95 (that includes $10 for return shipping. You would also pay for the shipping to send it in.) The cost for a new 325P2 is around $350.00. Of course, as long as you can power it externally, it would still be usable, but not very portable.
