MABAS Boxes

Yes, I've followed it while watching the Sox/Cubs tonight. Followed it on my scanner and have WGN on watching coverage

I have to admit, hearing all the Division 15 tone-out's for a "Tornado touchdown" gave me a shrivel down my spine. That is one scary thing to hear on the scanner in all my years of listening. I have yet to hear of any deaths as a result of this disaster, and that is the best news. They can rebuild property, not lives.

I know a few firefighters in the area. I've reached out to them on social media, but haven't heard anything back. I can only imagine they're very busy right now. I hope they're all safe.

Looks like the self-supporting tower at Coal City Sta. 2 came down. I'm thinking that was their UHF fire repeater site and some VHF simplexes for their PD.

Not only no deaths, but hardly any injuries, and even those were not severe.

I'm hearing there was plenty of warning by the NWS, which I'm sure plays a big role here.

While there were toneouts for TRT, I never heard any followup EMS boxes or requests for ambulances, unlike Plainfield in 1990. NIFERN was really busy that day.
