I would look for towers or transmitters popping up with little or no warning around the Metro area. Search mode on a 396T or its base version is a good thing to have right now.

Awesome... I guess this means that MHP will be moving on to astro then? A good reason for me to go get that Uniden 996.

Looking through the proposal, they define it as being a digital system.

also under "requirements of MSWIN" (p. 41), it says "Full features and functions as described by Project 25 ...".

So it looks as if it will be a 700 MHz Project 25 system. But also keep in mind, while this is still in the stage of evaluating the proposals that M/A-COM also has done work on making Project 25 radios and also now some 700/800 band radios too.

Everyone cheer for Motorola!

Phase 1: MHP Districts 7, 8, and 9 (southern region)
Phase 2: MHP Districts 1, 5, and 6 (central region)
Phase 3: MHP Districts 2, 3, and 4 (northern region)

Makes sense to do the southern stuff first, 'weather' and all ;)

Note: Phases will be controlled as subsystems and then utilized as one statewide controlled system. Phase One will be controlled in Hattiesburg. Proposed project start-up date is January 17th, 2007.

The reason they want 9 online first is to tie in to the LATIE ASAP for interop with LSP....
