• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Jamaica and South America and a Mobile in Mexico!!..... after a half hour I realized I should have recorded it.... so I started to record at the end and was very excited to make a good contact in France... this was my first contact to France and I'm extremely happy with my base station ... it's a Antron 99 that is 48 feet to the tip of the antenna and works great. ... video of my base station to come very soon

Yank operators and their French Canuck collaborators?

I was trying to get the Linc V2 & W-M CLRspkr dialed in. All I got was a Paul in Parker (County).

Where I’m parked.

West of Fort Worth.

Gonna have to find a better spot (down in a creek draw).

The base station equipment vid is welcomed. Plenty of guys will be glad to see what you have as the whole thing sounds so good.

Here’s another example of how one can expect to be heard when one acquires a modern radio. USB, LSB, FM, and AM (needs a touch of work on mic plosives). Base to Mobile:

I spent time yesterday running errands using my 2021-acquired Lincoln 2+ thru a typical aftermarket speaker in a temp set-up in my pickup. Nothing but hash for the signals deciphered on AM-19 in a huge US metro region. I could dial back RFG, and increase SQ, but experience told me I was limiting myself to distances becoming too short for planned actions.

This was with P-E transceiver choke installed.

Once home I installed the W-M ClrSpkr and it all became resolved. Clear.

Every aspect of RX/TX is 99% better.

The always good audio of the OPs videos highlights this. He probably sounds better at the other end given NRC gear than what we hear above.

“Distance” isn’t a barrier when the systems of the radio rig support these modern radios. There are moments it is amazing (what I perceive as the ostensible reason for the video of this thread).

It's a good feeling when you make a long distance contact like that. You look at your equipment and say man you are doing exactly what I want you to do.
